Meredith Vieira Leaving Today Show in June

For Today Show anchor Meredith Vieira, June 8th has been confirmed as her last day on the news program. I am so sad that I will no longer be able to see her each weekday morning. I watched her religiously on The View, and followed her on to Today. She will be sorely missed. Guess who her replacement will be? It was an emotional announcement for Vieira this morning (see the video below), and I must admit I got teary eyed as well. Like I said before, I had watched her on The View and then switched to the Today Show all because of her (I used to be a faithful GMA watcher). She definitely had some big shoes to fill, replacing Katie Couric in 2006, who went on to become the CBS Evening News anchor. Coincidentally, Couric is leaving that show as well. Ann Curry will take Meredith’s place, while Natalie Morales will take over Curry’s position at the news desk. So yes, it’s nice to see that they are keeping it in the family.
